The invention relates to a method for delivering an item (P) to a target point (Add). This item is a distinguishable item. A data set for the item (P) is generated in a central data storage unit. This data set comprises identification feature values for said item (P). The item (P) is conveyed to a predetermined target point (Add). At said target point (Add), the item (P) is provided, at least temporarily, with an optically detectable delivery marking (PA). At least one computer-accessible image (Abb) of the item (P) is generated by means of a portable image recording device (tKa). This image (Abb) shows the item (P) together with the delivery marking (PA). With the aid of the image (Abb), the data set for the item, which is stored in the central data storage unit, is determined. This data set is supplemented with a computer-accessible marking of the delivery.
