<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide "an obstacle detecting device for vehicles" capable of improving a detecting accuracy of an obstacle by excluding a foreign substance and the like attached to a camera lens from a range of detecting objects. <P>SOLUTION: This obstacle detecting device for vehicles includes: a camera photographing an obstacle detecting area in the periphery of a vehicle; and obstacle determination means determining whether or not the obstacle is present in the periphery of the vehicle based on a picture of the obstacle detecting area photographed by the camera. This obstacle detecting device further includes: immobile area detecting means (S15) detecting an immobile area, or an unchanged part in the obstacle detecting area photographed by the camera; undetectable area determination means (S16) determining an undetectable area from the immobile area detected by the immobile area detecting means; and undetectable area exclusion means (S18) excluding the undetectable area determined by the undetectable area determination means from the obstacle detecting area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
