<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To encode a track address and a servo sector address such that a minimum portion of a disk drive recording medium is used whereas a head position can be quickly determined. <P>SOLUTION: A method of decoding a track number and a sector number of a recording medium of a disk drive on the basis of encoded data written in servo sectors of the recording medium, comprises: a step of continuously reading first and second encoded data from first and second servo sectors; a step of decoding a S-bit sector number from the first and second encoded data; and a step of decoding an L-bit track number from the first and second encoded data, wherein each of the first and second encoded data includes bits smaller than (S+L) bits. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
