The inner and outer shells of the door sill have an approximate vertical plane of separation and are interconnected via an intermediate plate(10) aligned approximately vertically. The intermediate plate extends out beyond the sill(3) and in this projecting section is connected to at least one additional component of the vehicle's structure(1) which may be a pillar(13,14). The pillar is formed with a hat-form cross section from an open profile and by its end flanges is connected to the intermediate plate. An Independent claim is included for a procedure for the manufacture of a motor vehicle's structure in which the inner shell of the door sill is connected to the structure and before connecting the outer shell a vertically orientated intermediate plate is fitted between the inner and outer shells.
