PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk drive enclosure capable of easily and inexpensively upgrading a chassis by a user. SOLUTION: A slim and half height disk drive is housed in an optional order. The enclosure includes 13 pairs of guide rails, and each rail pair includes rails 401a to 407a and 401b to 401b on a side panel. 12 slots between the guide rails are defined into plural groups composed of 6 continuous slots S1 to S6. Each group has 4 connectors 410 to 413 on a backside panel, and these connectors are disposed in first, third, fourth and fifth slots. In second and sixth slots, stop tabs 408 and 409 are disposed near the front edge part of the side panel, and the insertion of the drive into the rail is prevented. In addition, a backside panel shuttle 304 to be replaceable by a different shuttle and removable is included.
