PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter capable of coping with miniaturization by obtaining the strength for withstanding an impact load by a plunger 4 pushed by a return spring 6 without enlarging dimension of a drive spring 2. SOLUTION: In the initial process that the current carrying to a magnet switch 11 is stopped and a plunger 4 is pushed for return by a return spring 6, an absorber spring 2b is engaged with the plunger 4 for interlock and receives a load from the plunger 4 while being deflected. In this process, the impact load is damped. Furthermore, the plunger 4 is engaged with the absorber spring 2b, and also engaged with a joint spring 2a, and pushed for return so as to share a load. A starter 100 having the absorber spring 2b for reducing the impact load can secure the strength without enlarging dimension of the driving spring 2 itself, and can cope with miniaturization.
