The axle has a cross-piece (31) provided with arms (34, 35) at its corresponding ends (32, 33). The arms are respectively provided with wheel mounting supports (38, 39) at its ends (34b, 35b), where the supports support corresponding wheels. The cross-piece and the arms are formed from a stamped metal sheet as a single piece, where the cross-piece and the arms are formed from a rigid assembly of superimposed metal sheets. The sheet includes determined thickness to increase torsion rigidity of the cross-piece.
