HEATING APPARATUS CONTAINING SUPERSATURATED SOLUTION AND LITHIUM SECONDARY BATTERY COMPRISING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A heater including a supersaturated solution and a secondary lithium battery including thereof are provided to help releasing heat from an overheated battery and improve low-temperature startability. CONSTITUTION: A heater(10) including a supersaturated solution comprises the supersaturated solution(11), a packing material(13) which accepts the supersaturated solution, and an operating tool(15). The supersaturated solution is either sodium thiosulfate solution or sodium acetate solution and has a melting point of 80deg.C or less. The packing material is polymer sheet which is made of PVC material. The thickness of the polymer sheet is about 1-3mm. The operating tool is an impact pin which is controlled by a battery management system(BMS)(30) equipped with a temperature sensor. A heat of crystallization of solute in the supersaturated solution is 10-200 kJ/mol.
