The device (3) has towing ropes (2) secured at top corners of a surface to be cleaned, where individual rope lengths are extended and shortened by rope winding devices such that the cleaning device is completely moved on the surface. The ropes are secured in a rope transport apparatus in a vertical line in a horizontal running rail by a roller or carriage. A cleaning apparatus comprises multiple motor driven rotary brushes, and hoses that supply cleaning medium into the cleaning device. The transport apparatus is controlled by stepping motors and a computer controller.
