<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a carbon nanotube composition by which a high purity and high quality long carbon nanotube composition having a thin diameter can be produced with a good yield. <P>SOLUTION: Dispersant-coated metal particles are supported on a carrier and then the dispersant is removed, whereby a catalyst can be produced without aggregating the metal particles on the carrier to coarse particles. By using the resulting catalyst, carbon nanotubes are efficiently grown and high purity and high quality long carbon nanotubes can be obtained with a good yield. Since the metal particles on the carrier can well reflect the particle size of the dispersant-coated metal particles, by controlling the particle size of metal particles used in advance, the particle size of the metal particles on the carrier can also be controlled, and by further controlling the kind and amount of the dispersant, the particle size of the supported metal is regulated, whereby the diameter of the resulting carbon nanotubes can also be controlled. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
