FUEL CELL ELECTRODE

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell electrode using a flexible carbon-fiber nonwoven fabric as a base material and having functions of both layers of a gas diffusion layer and an electrode catalyst layer.

SOLUTION: The fuel cell electrode comprises a flexible carbon-fiber nonwoven fabric and a fuel-cell catalyst, such as a metal catalyst or a carbon-alloy catalyst. The flexible carbon-fiber nonwoven fabric is formed by carbonizing a nonwoven fabric obtained by electrospinning a composition containing: an electrospinnable polymer material; an organic compound different from the polymer material; and a transition metal. The fuel-cell catalyst is supported on the surfaces of the carbon fibers constituting the nonwoven fabric.
