<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrial machine that eliminates the need for the operation of detecting the origin position of a linear encoder outputting a signal based upon the position of a moving mechanism, and starts measurement in a short time. <P>SOLUTION: A three-dimensional measuring machine 1 includes a spindle 2 moving a control object in a predetermined axial direction, a controller 3 controlling the position of the control object by controlling the position of the spindle 2, and an absolute type linear encoder 11 outputting the absolute position of the spindle 2.
