<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle travel control method for effectively using kinetic energy possessed by a vehicle for inertial travel, in the inertial travel. <P>SOLUTION: A power intermitting mechanism for cutting off joining to a driving wheel and a power transmission system or making the joining sparse, is arranged in a just near position (for example, between the driving wheel and a drive shaft) to the driving wheel of the power transmission system for transmitting power to the driving wheel from a vehicle power source such as an engine and a motor. In the inertial travel, the outflow to the power transmission system from the driving wheel of the kinetic energy possessed by the vehicle, is prevented and suppressed by cutting off the joining of the power intermitting mechanism or making the joining sparse, and use efficiency of the kinetic energy possessed by the vehicle to the inertial travel is enhanced. When performing the inertial travel, on a preset inertial travel possible road, inertial travel deceleration is measured and updated, the arrival possibility to a destination by the inertial travel is determined, and energy-saved inertial travel is performed by reducing rotation part corresponding weight when a determining result is possible. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
