<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion compensation encoding technique which does not misdetect a motion vector and less deteriorates video even if motion in the video is small in encoding an interlaced video signal. <P>SOLUTION: A motion vector detection device comprising a memory for storing a reference image for motion prediction encoding and motion vector search means for detecting a first motion vector, further comprises conversion means for converting a field image to a frame image by performing I/P conversion, reduced image generation means for generating a reduced image, and pre-motion vector search means for detecting a second motion vector based on a reduced image of an encoding target macroblock and a reference reduced image among reduced images stored in a frame memory. The motion vector search means uses the second motion vector detected with respect to the reduced image of the encoding target macroblock to determine a search range for detecting the first motion vector. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
