摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the porosity while reducing the reaction force from a cast slab, and to easily reduce the face-to-face distance between upper and lower rolls toward downstream side of the casting direction. <P>SOLUTION: A roll stand installed on a horizontal path part of a continuous casting machine has an upper frame 11a, a lower frame 11b, and six pairs of roll pairs. Projecting parts 43b, 43d, 43f are mounted on rolls 412, 414, 416 mounted on the upper frame 11a. Two projecting parts are mounted on each of the rolls 412, 414, 416. The projecting parts 43b, 43d, 43f are each provided at the positions of &ge;130 mm from ends at one side, of the rolls 412, 414, 416.
