<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeposition film forming method for achieving both of an improvement in the crosslinking density and layer separability in forming a double-layer separation type electrodeposition film, and imparting excellent corrosion resistance, weather resistance, light resistance, impact resistance, chipping resistance and appearance to the electrodeposition film in the coating of a car body. <P>SOLUTION: In the electrodeposition film forming method including processes in which a coating composition is electro-deposited on a coating object, the layer separation is executed while heating the object, and then, the object is hardened to form a double-layer hardened film composed of at least two layers, the coating composition contains coating film forming resin components (a) and (b), blocked polyisocyanates (c1) and (c2), and pigments. The coating film forming resin components (a) and (b) are incompatible with each other. coating film forming resin components (a) and (b) form emulsion particles A, B containing the blocked polyisocyanates (c1) and (c2).
