Embodiments are directed to a fence system for use on a power saw that has a flat top surface (12) and a saw blade (16) extending through an opening (14) in the top surface (12), the fence system (20) comprising an elongated fence (24) configured to be secured on the flat top surface at various positions relative to the blade, the fence (24) having at least one flat side wall portion against which material (26) can be positioned and moved along while the material (26) is moved through the cutting zone, and a support unit (22) configured to ride on the fence (24) and contact the object (26) to move it through the cutting zone, the unit comprising an ergonomically shaped hand pad (54), the unit being removably attached to the fence (26) and movable along the length thereof and a movable arm (56) attached to the hand pad that is configured to extend downwardly to an elevation closely adjacent to the top surface. |
