Method of mounting of an adjusting mechanism

The adjustment mechanism, especially for a vehicle seat, has a spindle nut (1) on a keyed spindle to work with a worm screw (2). The outer teeth (15) of the spindle nut are formed by recesses in its outer mantle surface (10), with a depth which decreases towards at least one axial end of the nut leaving the axial end sections (11,12) free of teeth. The assembly is contained within a two-part housing (3,4).
