A wind turbine blade transport bracket 60 comprises a root receiving portion for holding the blade root to support the blade in a broadly horizontal cantilever fashion and a base portion (64, Fig. 6) extending far enough, e.g. past the centre of gravity of the blade 65, to support the blade horizontally. The bracket may be counterweighted to enable the base portion to fall short of the blade centre of gravity. The bracket may have upper and lower surfaces to enable stacking and two spaced root gripping portions. The root may be gripped between contoured upper and lower sections (Fig. 9, 68, 72) or may be directly fastened e.g. by bolts to the receiving portion. It may be used in association with a handling or lifting bracket 100 comprising a root gripping portion 102 e.g. jaws mounted on a beam 104 having cable attachment locations 110. The lifting bracket is counterweighted 106 such that the centre of gravity of the bracket 108 is, in use, in line above that of the blade such that the blade may be lifted horizontally for mounting. |
