A damping unit (20) is interposed between two coaxial shanks (23, 24), where the damping unit is a plate realized in a viscoelastic material. The shanks and the damping unit cooperate with a retaining unit which limits the displacement of the coaxial shanks. The damping unit extends between ends of a distinct component and the lower cross piece. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used for being extending between a cross piece of a fascia and a lower cross piece of a bay in a cab interior of a motor vehicle (claimed) comprising a sound-proofing panel and a firewall between the two cross pieces. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The material of the damping unit allows to decrease vibrations existing at the level of a steering column during the rolling of a motor vehicle on the road, thus providing additional comfort to the driver of the vehicle without harming the appearance of the vehicle. The material of the damping unit is sheared correctly without being deteriorated when the motor vehicle is subjected to the vibrations.
