PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a pre-expanded polylactic acid-based resin particles that can form an in-mold foamed article excellent in heat resistance and mechanical strength. SOLUTION: The method for producing pre-expanded polylactic acid-based resin particles comprises, in a process of producing pre-expanded particles by cutting an extruded foamed article obtained by the extrusion foaming of a polylactic acid-based resin, preparing the following conditions: namely, the polylactic acid-based resin contains both optical isomers of D-isomer and L-isomer as constituting monomer components, and the content of an isomer having a smaller content among the D- and L-isomers is less than 5 mol% or, the resin contains only either optical isomer of the D- and L-isomers as a constituting monomer component, and a temperature T at an intersecting point of a storage modulus curve and a loss modulus curve fulfills a predetermined relation, and crystallinity of the pre-expanded polylactic acid-based resin particle becomes less than 30%.
