An optical recording/reproducing method is provided to improve precision of recording or reproducing using a tilt sensor for detecting tilting amount of a recording medium. An optical recording/reproducing method comprises the steps of: loading a recording medium(123) to record data or to reproduce the recorded data; detecting tilting amount of the recording medium by a tilt sensor; correcting the tilting component detected by the tilt sensor by moving a spindle base having a spindle motor; detecting tilting amount of the recording medium by the tilt sensor again after correction; and re-compensating the tilting component by moving of the spindle base till the tilting amount of the recording medium re-detected by the tilt sensor is below the predetermined reference value.
