<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide black electrophoretic particles capable of maintaining memory property, a method for producing the particles, an electrophoretic dispersion liquid containing the black electrophoretic particles, and an image display medium and an image display device using the electrophoretic dispersion liquid. <P>SOLUTION: A black electrophoretic particles 11a are obtained by a production method including the steps of: (A) coupling a titanium-based coupling agent having a substituent including a vinyl group in the molecule to the surfaces of carbon black particles; (B) coupling a diazonium compound having at least an anionic or cationic chargeable functional group in the molecule to the particles; and (C) polymerizing a reactive monomer to graft to the vinyl group included in the titanium-based coupling agent coupled to the surfaces of the carbon black particles. The electrophoretic dispersion liquid 11 containing the black electrophoretic particles is interposed between conductive layers 12 and 13 to constitute an image display medium 10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
