METHOD FOR DETERMINING TRANSFER MODE IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A transmission mode determination method in a mobile communication system is provided to be capable of reducing an amount of channel condition feedback by using CQI(Channel Quality Indicator) feedback, thereby decreasing an overhead of the mobile communication system as efficiently using radio resources. A BS(Base Station) allocates the second CQICH(CQI Channel) region between the BS and an RS(Relay Station)(S21,S22). The RS transmits a CQI between the BS and the RS through the second CQICH region. An MS receives the CQI(S23). The MS compares a capacity of a relay transmission channel passing through the RS with a channel capacity of a direct transmission channel which does not pass through the RS(S24-S26). If a capacity of another transmission path is larger than a capacity of the current transmission path, the MS sends a handover request message to the BS(S27). Handover is performed according to the handover request message(S28).
