TIME TO DIGITAL CONVERTER AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A time-digital converter and an operation method thereof are provided to improve resolution through a pipeline or cyclic structure. CONSTITUTION: A time-digital converter(100) comprises a plurality of stage blocks(SB1-SBn) and a switch control circuit(SC). The stage blocks output bits(Q1-Qn) corresponding to a time interval between first and second input signals. The number of the output bits corresponds to the number of the stage blocks. An increase in the number of the output bits is proportional to a resolution increase in converting the time interval between the first and second input signals into a digital code. The output bit of the previous stage block is outputted as an upper bit compared to the output bit of the next stage block so that the output bit of the first stage block is the uppermost bit and the output bit of the last n stage block is the lowermost bit.
