<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system or method for detecting a brake failure of an elevator, which monitors a brake action with an appropriate reference compatible with temperature characteristics of a brake. <P>SOLUTION: The brake failure detection system includes: a brake braking rotation of a hoisting machine; an elevator controller for controlling at least the brake; a brake action state detector for detecting an engaging/releasing condition of the brake; a temperature detector for detecting a brake temperature; and a memory for storing reference value data, which are determined based on temperature characteristics during a brake action time representing a period from output of a brake action instruction given by the elevator controller to occurrence of the brake engaging condition, in association with temperature. The brake failure detection system also includes: a reference value determiner for determining a reference value for determining failure of the brake action based on brake temperature information and the reference value data; and a brake failure detector measuring a brake action time and comparing the measured brake action time with the reference value determined by the reference value determiner. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
