APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING GLASS FILM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the occurrence of micro defects in the surface of a glass film ribbon to the extent possible when the glass film ribbon is transported toward a downstream side while curved.

SOLUTION: The apparatus 1 for manufacturing glass film includes a direction-change device 20 which changes the moving direction of a glass film ribbon G drawn out vertically downward from a casting device 10 from the vertical direction to the horizontal direction by transporting it in the longitudinal direction, while being curved. The direction-change device 20 has a curve-supporting means 21 which supports the glass film ribbon G in a longitudinally curved state. The curve-supporting means 21 is constituted of 2 lines of edge-supporting parts 22 and 22 which support edge regions Ga's in the width direction instead of supporting the central region Gb of the glass film ribbon G in the width direction.
