<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron-type golf club head with which a ball can be hit, causing little difference in flying distance, regardless of variations in hitting points, and which can be easily held by a user when he hits a ball. <P>SOLUTION: The iron-type golf club head 5 is provided with: a front surface 41 which forms a part of a face surface 15; a rear surface 42 which is arranged in a section on the other side of the front surface 41 in the front-rear directions; and a plate-like face member 13 which has a thickness t1 of 2-4 mm. The head 5 also includes: an exposed surface 31 which forms the face surface 15 together with the front surface 41 of the face member 13; and a receiving surface 32 which is arranged closer to the rear side than the exposed surface 31 by the thickness of the face member 13 and to which the rear surface 42 of the face member 13 is attached so that the front surface 41 of the face member 13 may be positioned in the same plane as the exposed surface 31. It is also provided with a head body 11 which is formed of a material whose specific gravity is larger than the face member 13.
