<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging unit in which a degree of freedom of design relating to arrangement of parts surrounding an imaging device can be improved while suppressing electrical interference between a circuit board and a metal plate surrounding the imaging element. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging unit 115 is provided with an imaging element 123, a circuit board 118, a metal plate 120, and an insulating plate 122. The circuit board 118 is electrically connected to the imaging element 123. The metal plate 120 is disposed on a side opposite to the light-receiving surface 123b of the imaging element 123.
