摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery that imparts superior high-temperature storage characteristics and quick charging/discharging characteristics to the lithium secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: The negative electrode active material for the lithium secondary battery comprises lithium titanate represented by general formula (1) of Li<SB POS="POST">x</SB>Ti<SB POS="POST">y</SB>O<SB POS="POST">12</SB>(where x and y satisfy 3.0&le;x&le;5.0, 4.0&le;y&le;6.0 and 0.70&le;x/y&le;0.90), and a magnesium compound.
