<p>The device has gear unit (10) with two forward gears, and starting gear signaling unit (11) and control unit (13). The starting gear signaling unit indicates one of the forward gears having small gear ratio as starting gear to a rider. The control unit controls the starting gear signaling unit, so that only one forward gear is indicated as starting gear to the rider.
