<p>The invention relates to a electrical switching device (1), comprising an actuator (10) in a housing 50), having a fixed (80) and a movable contact element (100) as a bridge forming contact in a bridge contact working area (200), wherein said bridge forming contact element (100) can be moved between a closed, i.e. ON, and a open, i.e. OFF, position. The invention also relates to a method for operating such electric devices. The objective of the invention is to provide such switching device as well as a method for operation such switching device, which reduces the risk of welded contact elements (80, 100) in case of short-circuits or other abnormal high currents. Due to the invention these objectives are achieved which a bridge contact working area (200) comprising a geometric element located above the moveable contact element (100) in view of the opening direction having a geometric element (300, 400, 500) with at least one member (310, 320, 410, 420, 510, 520), which is able to impact the dynamics of the closing movement of the movable contact element (100) and in a method for operating such electrical switching device, where the movable contact element (100) is impeded in its closing movement.</p> |
