The invention concerns a pre-expanded tampon pledget comprising a cellulosic fiber, wherein the tampon pledget has a density about 0.01 grams per cubic centimeter (g/cc) to about 0.39 g/cc and an absorbency about 6 grams to about 18 grams, and having from 1.1 grams to 4.5 grams of cellulosic fibers, a volume from 8cc to 60cc and a diameter in its initial condition from 1.27 cm (0.5 inches) to 4.445 cm (1.75 inches). |
