The invention relates to a method of producing alcohols, organic acids, proteins, sugars, hydrocarbons, and mixtures thereof, comprising pre-treating a biomass feedstock by irradiation with an electron beam and a rotor-stator device, followed by conversion of the said treated biomass feedstock utilizing an enzyme and/or a micro-organism.
