PURPOSE:To improve the operability of character string input by displaying correspondence relations between input character strings and converted character strings as their conversion results. CONSTITUTION:This system consists of a keyboard 20, a display device 22, a RAM24 and a ROM26 where programs and data are stored, and a processor 28 such as a microprocessor or the like. Function keys such as a cursor forward key and a cursor back key which move forward and backward an identifying display displayed on a display scope 100 on the display device 22, namely, a cursor or the like are included in the keyboard 20. Reading character strings inputted to the system, character strings as conversion results of Kana (Japanese syllabary)-Kanji (Chinese character) conversion, etc. are displayed visually on the display device 22. The display scope 100 is provided with a display part 48, where character strings after conversion are displayed, and a display part 50 where the conversion mode ''original Kana.Kanji'' is displayed in the left half and the input character string is displayed in the right half.
