摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of recovering a valuable metal effectively from a used-up nickel hydrogen secondary battery, especially a method of separating and recovering nickel contained in an electrode activator in a highly effective manner by dissolving the nickel in an acid. SOLUTION: The used-up nickel secondary battery is crushed and the electrode activator is separated from the battery by a physical separation method, such as screening and the like. Then, the electrode activator is dissolved in a sulfuric acid as air is blown into the sulfuric acid to make a solution containing a valuable metal. The solubility of the valuable metal can be improved by adding sodium sulfate to the solution at the time of or after the dissolution of the electrode activator in the sulfuric acid into which air is blown. Further, the electrode activator sticking on a separated separator is also dissolved in the sulfuric acid and is recovered.</p>
