PURPOSE: A lead storage battery is provided to quickly form lead sulfate on the surface of a negative electrode active material according to the increasing of charging/discharging number, in case of using for a micro-hybrid or a mild hybrid car, thereby preventing the life time degradation phenomenon. CONSTITUTION: A lead storage battery(100) comprises: a positive electrode(111) including a positive electrode active material containing lead peroxide; a negative electrode(112) including a negative electrode active material containing lead; and an electrolyte(120) between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The negative electrode active material comprises expanded graphite, of which BET specific surface area is 10-30 m^2/g. The negative electrode active material comprises 1-3 weight% of the expanded graphite, on the basis of the whole weight of the negative electrode active material. The density of the negative electrode active material is 68-73 g/in^3.
