<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate storage container which is easily distinguishable even when viewed from various directions in despite of a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: A substrate storage container has a container body having an opening and housing a substrate through the opening, and a lid closing the opening of the container body. An identification plate is attached to an edge line part between a first outer wall of the container body and a second outer wall which is located adjacent to the first outer wall.
