Disclosed is a displacement sensor (1) that receives input of at least one of either a target value for response times or a permissible value for detection errors, as the parameter that indicates conditions for operating the displacement sensor, and executes teaching using a workpiece model. During teaching, a CPU (110) determines a maximum exposure time while repeatedly performing detection using a light projecting unit (101) and a light receiving unit (102), calculates variations in displacement measurement data, and derives the number of pieces of data for moving average calculation appropriate for the input parameter value, by arithmetic processing using variations in maximum exposure time and measurement data. This number of data pieces is recorded in a memory (111) and used for moving average calculation in normal operation mode. |
