<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assembly optical cable whose whole can be shaped compact. <P>SOLUTION: The assembly optical cable 1 is formed by arranging in parallel a plurality of elements 2 in which a coated optical fiber 2a and a tension member 2b are arranged in parallel and collectively covered with a sheath 2c, and connecting adjacent elements 2 with a connection member 3 along a longitudinal direction. The adjacent elements 2 are arranged so that they include side faces 2e that cross an imaginary line L connecting the coated optical fibers 2a and the tension members 2b, and the adjacent side faces 2e face each other.
