<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foreign substance recovery device of an elevator that stores a foreign substance in a receiving member separate from a sill to prevent the foreign substance from staying on the sill, and easily recovers the foreign substance stored in the receiving member. <P>SOLUTION: The receiving member 22 supported by a support member 23 is arranged under a gate sill 12. The receiving member 22 is rotatable about a rotary shaft 26. The attitude of the receiving member 22 is variable by the turning of the receiving member 22 between a holding attitude for holding the foreign substance dropped through a through hole 17 of a gate sill 12 and a delivery attitude that inclines toward a recovery area 20 set down a clearance generated between a car sill 8 and the gate sill 12 and delivers the foreign substance to the recovery area 20.
