PURPOSE: An image processing apparatus and control method thereof are provided to improve the utilization of a space by maintaining the aspect ratio of each image. CONSTITUTION: A rectangle creation unit(101) divides plural images into two or more groups. The rectangle creation unit creates a rectangle in order to arrange images of the group. A rectangle combination unit creates a new rectangle by combining two triangles. A determination unit determines the layout of the images and creates the rectangle by repeatedly combining rectangles. The rectangle is composed of plural groups. The images are arranged at the rectangles.
