<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording device, along with a method of resetting an application roller of the same, capable of reliably resetting a state of the application roller, and constantly applying treatment liquid to a surface of paper in given application conditions. <P>SOLUTION: Resetting operation of the application roller is performed during print preparation operation at the start of printing. The resetting operation is performed by abutting the application roller as well as a wiper blade with an outer peripheral surface of a rotating treatment liquid applying drum. Accordingly, empty application can be performed while cleaning the outer peripheral surface of the treatment liquid applying drum, and thus, efficiently resetting the application roller. Further, a peripheral surface of the treatment liquid applying drum can be reset by finishing drum cleaning operation after finishing the empty application operation in advance.
