The saw i.e. handheld circular saw, has a protective cover covering a saw blade (20) in a region above a workpiece (36). The cover has a geometry and a position relative to the blade so that a straight line (G) encloses an angle (alpha) of up to 20 degrees with a line perpendicular to a workpiece support surface (24). The straight line originates by deflection of a tangent applied at an intersection of a saw blade circumference with the surface. A cover's inner side (37) has a shortest distance (X) of a maximum of 10 mm from the circumference in a region of a workpiece support plate (18). The protective cover is made of transparent plastic. |
