Rackets.-A tennis racket having an open throat is strengthened by strips 12, Fig. 1, of wood or other material that are applied across the throat, have their inner edges shaped to conform to the curvature of the frame and have their ends bent or curved to meet the frame at an angle. The strips are united to the shoulders 10 of the frame and are glued to an inner curved throat piece 11, Fig. 4. The grain of the strip is longitudinal and the inner ends may be either concave or convex.</p> |
