The method involves connecting two terminals of a direct current source (24) i.e. electric battery, to two connectors (C1, C3) of a three-phase generator, and identifying an angular position of a rotor. The terminals of the direct current source are connected to a third connector (C2) of the three-phase generator while maintaining connection of the other terminal of the current source inducing rotation of the rotor. New angular position of the rotor is identified, where the new angular position is deduced if vertices (S1-S3) of windings (B1-B3) are connected to the associated connectors. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling connection of stator windings of a three-phase generator.
