[Problem] To enlarge a focused image region when generating a three-dimensional image and display a sharp three-dimensional image. [Solution] A left-eye imaging unit (200) generates a left-eye viewing image; a right-eye imaging unit (300) generates a right-eye viewing image in synchronization with the left-eye viewing image. A focus control unit (123) controls the focus of the left-eye imaging unit (200) so that among the subjects included in the left-eye viewing image, a subject (first subject) included in a particular area is focused. The focus control unit (123) controls the focus of the right-eye imaging unit (300) so that among the subjects included in the right-eye viewing image, another subject (second subject) is focused that is present at a position different from the first subject in an optical axis direction. In this case, the respective focuses are controlled so that the range of the depth of field during generation of the left-eye viewing image and the range of the depth of field during generation of the right-eye viewing image become a continuous range without being overlapped with each other.
