<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system that combines transferring and fixing steps of a dry-type electrophotographic printer into one step to make an electric field for transfer unnecessary. <P>SOLUTION: An image is transfer-fixed directly from a photoconductor 16 to a paper 24 or other suitable substrate. During this step, appropriate pressure is applied according to a type of substrate and a type of toner to allow the toner to be fixed on the paper under cold pressure. The cold-pressure transfer-fixing can be performed directly from a photoreceptor without an intermediate transfer belt (ITB). Therefore all electrostatic transfer subsystems and fixing operations can be eliminated. Alternatively, in the case of an engine with the intermediate transfer belt (ITB), the cold-pressure transfer-fixing is replaceable with second transferring and fixing systems needed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
