<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of suppressing ghost caused by intersecting axes of a cross dichroic prism without deteriorating an image quality. <P>SOLUTION: Light shielding sections 91g, 91r, and 91b are provided in between liquid crystal light bulbs 60g, 60r, and 60b, which are optical modulation devices of respective colors, and the light emission side of a cross dichroic prism 70, and shield, from the light, ridges 73a, 73b, and 73c of the corresponding prism portions 72a, 72b and 72c, or intersecting axes AX, so as to prevent the projection of scattered light generated inside the cross dichroic prism 70, or the intersecting axes AX, as a ghost image. In this case, the light shielding sections 91g, 91r, and 91b are disposed and shield the liquid crystal light bulbs 60g, 60r, and 60b and the downstream side of the optical paths thereof from the light so as to suppress the deterioration of the image quality compared with a case where light scattering elements are disposed in the upstream side of the optical paths with respect to the liquid crystal light bulbs 60g, 60r, and 60b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
