<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel plate-made structural member which is lightweight, inexpensive and excellent in shock absorbing characteristics in a bending direction and rigidity, by improving a shape of an inside rib attached to an inner wall face of a web part rear side of a hat type member and improving a flange connection method. <P>SOLUTION: The hat type member which is bent in a hat shape and a closing plate are superimposed, and a superimposed portion of a flange are continuously connected to form the structural member with a hat type cross sectional structure. The inside rib of a reverse V-shaped cross sectional shape with the flange is connected by fusion, to the inner wall face of the web part rear side of the hat type member. A connection method of the superimposed portion of the hat type member flange, is a method of laser welding, or a method in which both adhesive and spot welding method are used.
